The courses of our Visual Arts Department include activities aimed at furthering the skills of the students in different grade levels, as appropriate for their hand-and-eye coordination and their social psychological development. Individual activities and group work also help them develop a sense of responsibility, solidarity, respect for others’ opinions, care and mutual service.
The class activities aim at letting the students implement their ideas within a plan, and to assess the end product.
Visual Arts is a discipline in itself, with its own terminology, techniques and topics. However, thanks to integrated projects and lessons, it offers a chance to the students to acquire an interdisciplinary perspective.
Based on the principle that creative individuals are those who research new areas, who observe, who reach conclusions, the courses include a research component through integrated activities and projects.
Students’ works are regularly displayed around school with joint and individual exhibitions. Interschool activities, projects, festivals and competitions provide an opportunity for the students to share their works with other schools. The goal of exhibitions and projects which aim at community service and social responsibility is to develop the students’ awareness in these areas.
High school students, interested in visual arts, work on portfolios in preparation for the university. EU projects provide a medium for international exchange.
