The Turkish Language and Literature Department aims to help students develop an attitude which combines global dimensions with national values. The goal is to develop our students’ reading and understanding skills, and to complement their listening and interpretation aptitude with writing skills. Beginning in the first grade, and designed to suit their age group and predisposition to read, the program aims to educate them as fully literate people.

To reveal the students’ creativity and develop their intellect, they read and discuss selected works of Turkish and world literature, and they progress to the point of attaining the ability to write literary articles.

The teaching methods include induction, deduction, questions-answers, creative visual presentations, multiple intelligence, association of ideas, and synthesis, which help develop a critical approach and creative/productive thinking ability. Our Turkish Language and Literature Department aims at bringing to light the inherent potential of individuals to think freely, to question positively, to make decisions, and to be productive.
