The goals of the Math Department are to bring to light the individual potential of the students; help them develop a positive approach to mathematics, explore the nature of math, do research, gain problem solving skills; show the relationships with daily life and other disciplines; and develop their sense of responsibility.
The department’s courses and related activities are designed within a coordinated program from preschool to the last year of the high school. To ensure unity in education, level teachers hold regular meetings to share methods and content. In addition, cross-curricular activities are organized in relevant subjects.
The performance of the students in math classes is evaluated not only with written grades, but also based on other criteria: completing responsibly their regular assignments, ongoing assessments, consistence in bringing their books and material to class, active participation in class, projects, participation in individual and group activities. Our Math Department offers complementary support to the students according to their individual needs.
The internationally recognized Pi Day, on March 14, is also celebrated at Hisar Schools with various activities. In addition, we encourage our students to participate in national and international competitions. Our students represented our school at a number of mind games and math contests. We expect that a growing number of students will participate in such events in the future.
