Starting from the 3rd Grade of Elementary School, each student is given an Academic Planner. This planner plays an important role in developing a student’s organizational skills (i.e. supporting short- and long-term planning habits and bolstering self-management skills). The Academic Planner is a supplementary tool used to facilitate communication between students and teachers, and coherence to its use facilitates classroom management.
Students should keep their academic planners with them in every class and during club hours, as well as other scheduled activities.
In addition to daily homework assignments, students may also use their Academic Planners for assessments, long-term projects, and performance tasks. The agenda includes a section for social activities, and this section helps students organize time between schoolwork and life outside of school.
Parents are encouraged to periodically examine their child’s Academic Planner. Parents should help to foster good study habits by reading the planner’s homework section and supporting students at home. To further facilitate communication, teachers and parents may exchange notes (including signatures and dates).
Academic Planners are distributed to the students free of charge, but students who lose their planners must pay a fee for a new one. The loss of the Academic Planner does not in any way exempt a student from assignments.
